As we learned yesterday, Andorra is situated in the Pyrenees, an area perhaps best known for its stunning mountain scenery, outdoor pursuits and above all, the Pyrenean mountain dog.
Worth at least 10 points in the I-Spy book of dogs, if memory serves me correctly.
Today's challenge was to get up into those mountains and test out the scenery (all the while hoping for a glimpse of the fluffy white canine)
We set our sights on the charmingly named Circuit of Springs in Engolasters, a mere 1600m or so above sea level, neither of us having crampons, and one of us with no knowledge of how to use them either.
After more hairpin bends than were strictly necessary, and accompanied somewhat worryingly by the whiff of overheating engine we arrived.
The weather was excellent, and the circuit remarkably easy to follow, being a really good path through the pine trees with great views of distant mountains and a few springs thrown in (not drinking water, they'd probably charge for that)
JB passed a very happy couple of hours dangling from some of the steeper bits of granite by the side of the path.
To each his own.....
Also, I should point out as I know his mum reads this, that at all times he was in fact attached by a rope to me.
(Does that make it worse?)
It was only on our return to the car that we realised that the circuit had been specially designed for people with impaired vision and/or reduced mobility.
As I'd forgotten my specs and my knees were giving me gyp, I decided that I qualified to use it.
Here's some pics of the scenery.
(No dogs were spotted)
