Sukhothai

 Evening all.

You find us in Sukhothai, on the river Yom (no kippers).

Sukhothai was the capital of Siam between the 13th and 15th centuries so as you may already have guessed, it's stuffed full of ruins.

It's a fairly large site and walking round it is discouraged (mostly by the chaps keen to rent out their tarted up golf cart- type things).

Model-T golf cart

It was decided that we'd view the ruins (rubble) by bicycle. (I tried holding out for the tandem, but JB is fine tuned for any evidence of slacking)

Some readers will no doubt be remembering my brief brush with cycling last year and already be opening a bargain bucket of popcorn in preparation for what's to come.....

However.

(And I can't quite believe I'm writing this) :

 I DIDN'T FALL OFF!!!

On the contrary, I was quite the Bradley Wiggins (minus the silly sideburns and gold medals)

As for the ruins, I've inflicted enough of them on you in the past for you to be getting the jist by now.

They're quite good though.

Unesco World Heritage apparently.

But remember, so is Blaenavon Industrial Landscape.

Just saying............

Anyway, here's a selection of the delights on offer. (Remember, these were photographed by an actual cyclist)

Incidentally, on our way round, an extremely confused cricket attempted to move into the subtropical environment of JBs leg:

And finally:

A regular correspondent and blog follower has asked for more bells.

I don't normally do requests, but just this once:

*No crickets were injured during the making of this blog.
