Caves

Happily restored to full colon health, we decided that a day out was in order. JB had read encouraging things about series of caves nearby, known as the Tham Sang Triangle,
 and so....

Having acquired the services of a tuk-tuk driver by offering a mere half million kip, we were off!

What followed was a 13k, 45 minute, buttock bashing nightmare as we bounced along the exceptionally dusty, multiple pot-holed road to cave central.

First stop was Tham Sang, or 'Elephant Cave'.
As you may have guessed, the biggest draw (apart from  a few buddhas) is a stalagmite in the shape of an elephant.
Judge for yourself.....

I didn't offer it a bun.........

Then it was on to Tham Hoi and Tham Loup.

Both caves dark and full of stalagmites (and, daringly) stalactites.

They looked like this....

Admittedly better with a head torch. .....

Last stop was Tham Nam. Billed as a 'River Cave', it could only be accessed via an inner tube and what looked like a dodgy bit of string.

Courageously, I volunteered to mind the bags while JB went in.
He emerged some 40minutes later, dripping, freezing cold, but triumphant.

Another posterior punishing 45 minutes and we were home......
