And so, after being shuffled between minibuses for an hour or so, we finally set off from Vientiane bound for Vang Vieng (hopefully still on the same minibus as our luggage)
Vang Vieng. Currently the capital of methanol poisoning, it may seem at first an unlikely destination.
But consider this. As we only drink bottled beer (mostly, I admit because it's cheap), we feel relatively safe.
Things appear to have changed since our last trip here (2015 ish).
Back then, you could obtain anything from methamphetamine to orange juice, and all stops in between.
Indeed, I clearly recall being offered the drug menu BEFORE the beer menu......
(for any GPHC lawyers reading this, I did NOT, nor ever have partaken of illicit substances in Laos)
Anyway, it's still a very lovely spot and although tonight's bar featured a mostly Christian Rock playlist (🙈), we are enjoying it thoroughly.
